Back. To you.

Way Back No. 11

The Receipt

Do this one on paper.

Take your worst one.

The failure
you still flinch from.

Write it down
in two sentences.

And here’s the rule.

No shame words allowed.

Not “I blew it.”
Not “I ruined.”

Just:

what was tried.

What happened.

Then underneath,
one more line.

What it taught you
that you couldn’t have
learned cheaper.

Now look at what you wrote.

That’s not a scar.

That’s a receipt.

You paid for that lesson.

It’s yours now.

The only way to waste it

is to keep flinching
instead of spending it.

From chapter eleven

On paper, on purpose

The book says paper, so this page will not ask you to type it. Some things want a pen, a page, and nobody watching. This is one.

The shame words will fight to get in. Cross them out and state what was tried and what happened. Watch the failure shrink to the size of a fact.

One line to carry

That’s not a scar. That’s a receipt.

If someone came to mind

Some people read this page and think of one person the whole way through.
If that happened, send them back to themselves. It costs them nothing.

The other Ways Back are in their chapters, one per chapter, all of them free. This one is yours whenever you need it.
