Back. To you.

One practice, open to everyone

The Hold

Somewhere in you there is a message you have been carrying all day. A complaint. A grievance. A someone-needs-to-hear-about-this.

Don’t send it. Don’t swallow it either.

Give it to this page. It will hold it for twenty-four hours. Then it will ask you one question.

The hold, kept for you.

What you write is stored only on this device. It is never sent anywhere, to anyone, ever. The page counts visits and button presses, never words.

What usually happens

Writing it down feels like giving in. It is the opposite. Filed things stop circling.

Tomorrow, most of what you held will read differently. Some of it will read like someone else wrote it.

And the ones that still stand after a day? Those are the ones worth saying. Now you will say them well.

One line to carry

It can wait a day.

If someone came to mind

Some people read this page and think of one person the whole way through.
If that happened, send them here. It costs them nothing.

This practice comes from chapter nine of Back. To you.
The deeper version, in the book’s own words, is here. Your copy number is the key.
